20% of home care workers in Wales have been in their role for more than a decade, challenging the perception about retention in the social care sector. A report by Social Care Wales also found that two-thirds (44%) of the workforce have been in their current role for more than two years. As of June 1st, there were 19,637 domiciliary care workers on the Register of Social Care Workers in Wales, which was opened to the workforce in April 2018 and became mandatory to register on April 1st, 2020.
